Supernova Games Studios has put out a new trailer for Assetto Corsa Rally, and it gives a first look at three cars headed for the game’s V0.6 update: the Audi Quattro, the Peugeot 206 WRC and the Volkswagen Polo GTI R5.
That trio covers a lot of rallying history in one drop. The Quattro is the car that made four-wheel drive the default on gravel in the early 1980s, and it remains one of the most requested machines in any rally sim. The 206 WRC belongs to the turn-of-the-century World Rally Car era, when Peugeot was winning titles with it against Subaru, Ford and Mitsubishi. The Polo GTI R5 is a much more recent customer-spec car, the kind of thing you still see running in national championships and the WRC2 support class today.
Beyond the car names and the V0.6 label, there is not much hard information to go on yet. Supernova has not attached a release date to the build in the trailer, and nothing has been said about which stages the cars will arrive with or whether physics or handling changes ship alongside them. Treat the trailer as a preview rather than a patch note.
For sim racers, the interesting part is the spread of eras. Assetto Corsa Rally is still an early access title, and its car list has been the main thing holding people back from committing to it. A Group B icon, a proper WRC-era hatch and a modern R5 in the same update suggests the studio is aiming for breadth rather than filling out one class at a time. If the handling holds up across such different drivetrains and power levels, that will say more about the sim’s underlying physics than any single car could. Until V0.6 actually lands, though, the sensible move is to wait and see how it drives.
