Fanatec has acknowledged that some Gran Turismo DD Pro owners are running into trouble in Gran Turismo 7 following the game’s latest update, with reports of wheel bases dropping their connection or losing force feedback mid-session. The company says it is looking into the issue and has pointed affected users toward a recommended workaround in the meantime.
The DD Pro is the officially licensed Gran Turismo direct-drive base and one of the most common wheels you’ll find on a PS5 rig, so a compatibility hiccup with GT7 hits a wide audience. Based on what has been reported, the problems surfaced after a GT7 update rather than a Fanatec firmware change, which suggests something shifted on the game side in how it talks to the hardware. Whether the ultimate fix comes from Polyphony, Fanatec, or both is not yet clear, and Fanatec has not given a timeline for a permanent solution.
Why it matters: a wheel that disconnects or goes dead in the middle of a race is not a minor annoyance. In a Daily Race or a Sport Mode session, it means a lost result and potentially a safety-rating penalty through no fault of your own. Losing force feedback is arguably worse, since it strips out the one channel of information that tells you what the tyres are doing. If you own a DD Pro and have noticed odd behaviour since updating GT7, it is worth checking Fanatec’s guidance before your next session rather than assuming your base is faulty. And if you were about to buy one specifically for GT7, this is a reminder that licensed does not always mean flawless: even first-party partnerships have rough patches when a game update lands. We’ll keep an eye on whether a proper fix arrives.
