The Garage 56 NASCAR still isn’t confirmed for Le Mans Ultimate, but Motorsport Games boss Stephen Hood says the project is nearer to happening than it’s ever been — stopping short of an announcement with a line about trying to make it happen.

That’s the whole of it, and it’s worth being clear-eyed about what that means: an intention, not a release date, not a licence signed in public, not a content roadmap slot. Hood has been openly conversational about the game’s direction for a while now, and this reads as another one of those moments where the wish list gets aired rather than delivered. “Closer than ever” is also doing a lot of work when the starting point was “not happening at all.”

The car itself needs little introduction. The Next Gen Camaro that ran the 2023 24 Hours of Le Mans under the Garage 56 innovation slot was one of the more genuinely charming things to happen at the circuit in years — a stock car, out of category, out of place, and quick enough to matter. It’s the kind of one-off that sim racers ask about constantly precisely because no other game is going to model it.

Why it matters: Le Mans Ultimate’s appeal has always been the official WEC grid, and novelty content is the sort of thing that can either broaden the game’s audience or eat development time that the core classes still need. If it arrives, it’ll be a genuine draw. Until Motorsport Games actually confirms it, though, treat this as a stated ambition — encouraging, but nothing you should be planning your sim rig purchases around.
