Polyphony Digital has added Moza Racing to the Gran Turismo World Series peripheral lineup, and the partnership comes with something more interesting than a logo on a banner: Moza is building a PlayStation-compatible wheel with native Gran Turismo 7 support.
That’s a bigger deal than the announcement’s low-key framing suggests. Console licensing has kept the PlayStation wheel market unusually narrow for years — if you race GT7 on a PS5 and want direct drive, your options have been limited to a short list of officially sanctioned hardware, and pricing has reflected that. Moza has spent the last few years undercutting the established names on PC with a broad ladder of bases and wheels, so a licensed PlayStation product from them changes the shape of the shelf rather than just adding one more box to it.
The details beyond that are thin at this stage. Polyphony hasn’t detailed which base or wheel is coming, what torque figure it lands on, where it sits on price, or when it ships. “Native GT7 support” is the phrase doing the work here, and until Moza spells out what that covers — in-game menu setup, force feedback tuning, display and button mapping — it’s worth treating as a promise rather than a spec.
Why it matters if you race: competition on the PlayStation side has been overdue. GT7 is the entry point for an enormous number of sim racers, and the wheel most of them buy is whatever is compatible, not whatever is best. More licensed manufacturers means more pressure on price and more reason for the incumbents to iterate. Whether Moza’s version clears that bar depends entirely on hardware nobody has seen yet — but the direction is the right one.
