Gran Turismo 7 Online Time Trial: 6 Seven

Gran Turismo 7’s Online Time Trial board just got a full reset. All three of the game’s active time trial events expired at the same time this morning, clearing the way for a completely fresh lineup — a rarity, since the events usually rotate on staggered schedules with at least one carrying over week to week.

The reason for the clean sweep is the game’s latest update, which introduced a raft of physics changes. Rather than let old leaderboard times set under the previous handling model stand alongside new ones, Polyphony has wiped the slate and started all three events over.

That’s the sensible call, and it’s why this matters if you chase time trial rankings. Physics changes of any real substance make old benchmarks meaningless — a lap set under the outgoing tire or suspension model isn’t comparable to one set under the new code, and mixed leaderboards would have been a mess. A simultaneous reset means everyone starts from zero on equal footing.

It also means this week is the moment to get involved. With no carried-over alien times sitting at the top of the boards, the early rankings are as approachable as they’ll ever be — and running the new events is the quickest way to get a feel for how the updated physics actually behave. Full event details are in GTPlanet’s roundup.
