Kunos has pushed another hotfix for Assetto Corsa EVO, and the headline addition is official TrackIR support.
TrackIR is the head-tracking system from NaturalPoint that uses a small infrared camera and a reflective clip on a headset or cap to translate real head movement into in-game camera movement. It has long been a fixture in flight sims, and plenty of racers use it as a middle ground between a fixed cockpit view and a full VR setup. Until now, EVO players wanting it had to rely on workarounds or third-party tools; this update brings native support into the game itself.
The same hotfix also adds a new livery for the Mk.8 Volkswagen Golf R, one of the road cars in EVO’s current line-up. Beyond those two items, Traxion’s report doesn’t go into further detail on bug fixes or other changes, so treat this as a small maintenance drop rather than a content milestone.
Why it matters: EVO is still in early access, and a lot of the community’s frustration has centred on missing quality-of-life features that mature sims take for granted. Head tracking is one of those. For triple-screen and single-monitor drivers who want to glance into an apex or check a mirror without reaching for a button, TrackIR support is a genuine usability win, and having it built in means fewer moving parts to break with each patch. It also signals that Kunos is still chipping away at the peripheral and hardware compatibility list rather than only pushing cars and tracks.
A livery and a head-tracking toggle won’t change anyone’s opinion of the game’s overall state, but they’re the kind of steady, unflashy fixes early access needs to keep delivering. If you own a TrackIR, it’s worth updating and giving it a try.
