Race Sim Studio has put out Formula Hybrid 2026, a new paid car mod for Assetto Corsa modelled on this year’s Formula 1 regulations. The Traxion report says the car is built to reflect the overhauled 2026 hybrid ruleset, the biggest shake-up F1 has seen in over a decade, with its much larger electrical contribution and the aerodynamic changes that came with it.
RSS has been doing this for years. The Formula Hybrid line has tracked each new F1 season on the original Assetto Corsa since 2017, and this is the latest in that series. As with the earlier cars, it’s an unlicensed, “in the style of” machine rather than a replica of any particular team’s chassis. The Traxion post is light on specifics about how the new power unit split or the active aero elements are simulated, so we can’t tell you yet whether it meaningfully feels different from the 2025 car or is a visual refresh on familiar physics. We’ll update once we’ve driven it.
Why does this matter? Because Assetto Corsa is still, somewhat absurdly, the place a lot of people go to drive current F1-style cars. The official F1 games have had a rough couple of years, and the Kunos original, with Content Manager and Custom Shaders Patch bolted on, remains the de facto open platform for the modding community. A 2026-spec car arriving in time for the end of the real season keeps that ecosystem relevant, and RSS cars have historically been among the better-handling options for anyone running leagues or hotlapping on the game.
The usual caveats apply. This is a paid mod from a third-party studio, not official content, and quality can vary between releases. If you already own previous Formula Hybrid cars and were underwhelmed, nothing here suggests a radical change in approach. If you’re after something approximating the new regs with reasonable physics on a game that runs on nearly anything, this is now the obvious starting point.
