RaceRoom set for new hill climb venue, as Glasbachrennen used in FIA sim competition

RaceRoom is getting a new hill climb track, and it’s arriving by way of an FIA esports event. The final of the FIA Esports European Hill Climb Cup is being run on RaceRoom, and a fresh venue based on the Glasbachrennen has been built for the occasion.

That is the extent of what has been confirmed so far. The Glasbachrennen is a real-world hill climb held in Germany’s Thuringian Forest, part of the European hill climb scene that the FIA cup is modelled on, so it is a fitting choice for a competition carrying the FIA badge. Release timing for the general public, pricing, and whether the track will be sold on its own or bundled have not been detailed in the source. We’ll update when RaceRoom or KW Studios says more.

For sim racers, the interesting part is simply that hill climb content keeps growing in a space that has long been dominated by circuit racing. RaceRoom already has a small but committed hill climb following, and a point-to-point venue carved out of a real event gives that group something new to learn rather than another variant of a familiar permanent track. It also shows how esports deals are quietly shaping what gets built: when a sanctioning body needs a venue for a final, a studio has a reason to make one, and the rest of us eventually benefit.

The honest caveat is that hill climb remains a niche within a niche, and one new venue will not change that on its own. Still, if you enjoy the discipline, a laser-focused new track in a sim that handles it well is good news, and worth keeping an eye on as details firm up.
