Rennsport will have its own dedicated booth at this year’s SimRacing Expo in Frankfurt, and the event will double as the stage for the final round of the platform’s R1 competition in October.

The details beyond that are thin for now, but the broad strokes are clear enough: rather than just tagging along as one exhibitor among many, Rennsport is planting a proper flag at the expo, and it’s timing that presence to coincide with the climax of its flagship esports series. Settling an R1 title in front of a live Frankfurt crowd is about as visible a finish as the competition could ask for.

Why does this matter if you’re a sim racer? A couple of reasons. First, the SimRacing Expo remains one of the few places where you can actually get hands-on with titles and hardware before spending money, and a dedicated Rennsport booth presumably means a chance to try the sim for yourself rather than judging it from streams and forum arguments. Rennsport has had a bumpy road in public perception since its early invite-only days, so letting people form their own first-hand impressions is arguably the most useful thing the developer can do at an event like this.

Second, running a championship finale at a community expo, rather than in a closed studio, says something about where sim racing esports is drifting: toward events you can attend, watch in person, and wander away from to browse wheel bases. Whether the racing itself delivers is another question, and we’ll reserve judgment until the broadcast.

If you were already weighing a trip to Frankfurt in October, this adds one more reason to go. If you weren’t, it’s a decent excuse to keep an eye on the schedule once Rennsport fills in the specifics.
