Assetto Corsa Evo’s next step is coming into focus. Developer Kunos has outlined what’s headed to the early-access racer in its V0.8 update, and it’s a reasonably meaty list: three new cars, a fresh track, a reworked VR implementation, and support for custom liveries.

Kunos hasn’t been shy about the fact that Evo launched in a rough, feature-light state, so each of these additions chips away at that. More cars and another circuit are the obvious wins — the current roster is still thin compared to what long-time Assetto Corsa players expect. The custom livery support is arguably the bigger deal, though. Personal and community-made paint schemes were a huge part of the original game’s decade-long life, feeding an entire ecosystem of modders and league racers. Getting that pipeline started early in Evo’s life matters more than any single car.

The VR rework is the one to watch with cautious optimism. VR in the original Assetto Corsa was beloved but famously finicky to get running well, and Evo’s headset support so far has been a common complaint. A revision is welcome, but “revised” doesn’t automatically mean “fixed,” so it’s worth reserving judgment until people actually strap in.

Why it matters: Evo is still very much a work in progress, and updates like this are how Kunos rebuilds trust after a bumpy launch. None of these features are flashy on their own, but together they push the sim toward the foundation people actually wanted at release. If you’ve been holding off, V0.8 isn’t the update that suddenly makes Evo complete — but it’s a sensible set of priorities, and the livery and VR work in particular hint that the team is addressing real feedback rather than just padding the car count.
